I tell you, sir, I have played in all the largest theatres in Europe.
Yes, sir. In America we have theatres so big that when a man in the back throws an egg, it hatches out before it reaches the stage.

Aunt- "And how did Jimmy do on his history examination?"
Mother- "Oh, not at all well, but there, it wasn’t his fault. Why, they asked him things that happened before the poor boy was born!"

Some people won’t stop talking until you start walking.

New Council Hits the Road Running.

The City Council is scheduled for its first full meeting tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m.in City Hall since the election of four new members. The agenda facing the Council has left little time for the newly elected officials to settle in to the routine of conducting City business.

Scheduled for vote in second reading is an appropriation of $10,000 for emergency sewer repairs at the Civil War Museum.

The Council will is also scheduled to vote on two construction contracts. Council bill 01-36 would authorize a contract with G&G Construction in the amount of $289,953 for the construction of a new Park Department maintenance building.

Council bill 01-36 would authorize an agreement with Sprouls construction in the amount of $57,000 for the construction of a maintenance building at the City landfill.

Also scheduled for vote is an agreement with the Hispanic Soccer League for the use of Myers Park soccer fields. A related Council bill in first reading would provide for the issuance of food concession permits for sale on City property. The permits would be issued for Myers Park.

Just Jake Talkin'

Mornin',

If ya haven’t started, it’s time for spring cleanin’.

The annual city wide garage sale is approachin’ and then the city wide clean up day is close behind. Time ta get rid of all that "stuff" that seems ta gather over the year.

Unfortunately, gettin’ rid of the stuff just makes room for next year’s collection. ‘Course my favorite City sponsored event is the cleanup day. Although I have been able to resist the temptation of gatherin’ up stuff on that weekend, I do get a kick outa watchin’ the parade of cars, pickups, and the classic school bus full of folks, makin’ the rounds collectin’ the more attractive throwaways.

We might wanna interest some of those bus tours to come through on cleanup weekend. It’s a show worth watchin’.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Just Jake Talkin’.

The Super Handyman

by Al Carrell & Kelly Carrell

Dear Al & Kelly: I’ve been working on refinishing a table for a while now. The biggest problem I had was getting the sandpaper into the smaller cracks. The abrasive paper just went to pieces by itself. I tried putting a credit card inside the folded paper and had much better luck. The credit card gives the sandpaper a supportive backing to help it stay strong while I work it into the cracks. It made al the difference. My cards are all "maxed" out anyway, so why not put them to some better use for a while?

Dear Kelly: Our high-rise apartment building is convenient to work, but there are some drawbacks. We have a key for our door, a key for our elevator, a key for our parking garage, one for our storage room and another for the utility area. It’s hard to keep up with all the keys, so we got organized. The keys are color-coded now, with those plastic caps they sell at locksmith shops. We got a different color for each area, and it matches the walls, floor or something in that area to make it easy to pick out the right key. It has really saved us some time and aggravation.

SUPER HINT-If you are tired of finding powdered shop compounds ruined because of humidity, try putting them into sealable plastic bags and then put them back into their boxes.
