With my wife, nothing is wasted. When the cuffs wear out in my shirt it becomes a short-sleeved shirt. When the collar goes, it becomes a pajama top. Right now I’ve got forty-four short-sleeved pajama tops. Sometimes, when I’ve got nothin’ to do, I sit around the house and change pajama tops. - Rodney Dangerfield

It was a small town, Ferguson, Ohio. When you entered there was a big sign and it said, "Welcome to Ferguson. Beware of the dog." The all night drug store closed at noon. - Jackie Vernon

Four Haystacks Burned.

J.M. Whitsett Lost $200 Worth of Property.

A hay field and four stacks of hay belonging to J.M. Whitsett and located near the old fair grounds and just west of the Missouri Pacific railroad track were destroyed by fire between 7 and 8 o’clock last night. It is of course supposed that the fire was started by the sparks from a passing train. Mr. Whitsett places his loss at $200. Besides the hay the fences were damaged.

Evidently the electric railway company whose line bounds the field on the south had anticipated that just such a fire was likely to occur for the company had guard burned along the Whitsett and adjoining fields to protect its poles and ties. That the foresight was well-timed is proven.

Murder in 3-D at Stone’s Throw.

News release

Murder and mayhem arrive at Stone’s Throw Dinner Theatre on Saturday, December 31, 2005, Doors open 9:00 p.m. Join us as we present an audience-participation mystery. MURDER in 3-D is a one-evening opportunity for armchair detectives to try out their sleuthing skills. It’s 1969 and Alex Chapman, genius filmmaker, had almost completed shooting the movie that was destined to become his unfinished masterpiece, In Your Face. But filming had to be halted as Chapman hadn’t written the final scene. The cast was dismissed until the next day, when Chapman promised the scripts’ ending. But instead of providing that last scene, Alex Chapman gave show business one of its most puzzling mysteries. For, on that night, after he had written the ending, Alex Chapman was murdered and his house set afire. The case has never been solved despite exhaustive efforts by the police. As part of its series of classic films, your group is screening the incomplete In Your Face, complete with 3-D effects. But preceding the showing there will be a panel discussion of the movie, and the mystery surrounding it. The event includes a dastardly deed (or two!), a clue hunt through the theatre, and a chance to win prizes by correctly deducing "whodunit."

MURDER IN 3-D is a team activity and a wonderful chance for groups to do "something different!" Participants can use this event to meet new people by being placed on a team (It’s a guarantee—you won’t be strangers by the end of the evening!)

Besides the mysterious goings-on, detectives will sample the buffet and ring in the New Year with the cast and crew! And they will have an opportunity to meet some world famous actors and actresses!

The event at Stone’s Throw dinner theatre will be an evening filled with drama, intrigue, and mystery. The price is $19.50 regular, $18.50 seniors and $16.00 youth under 16. This show is produced with special arrangement with Mysteries by Moushey, Inc. For more information contact bbell23@ipa.net, 417-358-7268.

Our Christmas gatherin’s are dippin’ well into the fourth generations at this point. Last year’s babies are even realizin’ how small the newborns are.

After a few years of relative calm (pun) the noise level at this last weekend’s reunions was noticeably up a few decibels. Now our family has never been known for whisperin’ at these festivities, but a voice was raised to give emphasis, or raise above the rumble for attention.

This new generations seems, at the quaint age of two or three, to enjoy just yelling’ for the fun of it. ‘Course this is to be expected of those with little experience in the socially acceptable increase of volume for effect, and they have yet to learn the subtle art of retreat. I can remember bein’ told that I sometimes made grandparents "nervous. I think I’m beginnin’ to understand.

This is some fact, but mostly,

The battle of the bulge is still in full swing. Many new products are being marketed at this time. Some are good, some questionable and some just not good at all. The fibers which absorb fat before it can be metabolized are popular because they are working. Not only do they add extra fiber to the diet, but they are easy and allow the user to follow a fairly regular eating habit. Especially during the holidays it is hard to say no to all the extra fatty goodies.

A couple of things to remember; if you are allergic to shell fish stay away from chitosan is it is from shellfish. Also, with any of these products be sure that you are not taking the essential oils your body needs as it will absorb them also. Example; do not take them if your are eating a nice salmon dinner or if you have just taken your multivitamin with Vitamin E, A or any other of the oily vitamins as they will be absorbed and flushed from the system along with the undesirable fats. An occasional complaint has come back regarding an urgent need to eliminate, but most are pleased with this type of product.

Amino acids are making their way back into the diet limelight again. Arginine/ornithine just before bed, a hydrolyzed protein compound prior to bed, protein drinks in the a.m. or as meal replacement. Protein is high in amino acids and helps to build muscle. Always popular monohydrate creatine for "instant" muscle.

Remember that adequate amounts of pathothenic acid are essential for conversion of fat and sugar to energy.
