Today's
Feature
Kellog Lake
Evaluated.
The Public Services Committee
continued its monthly evaluation of the City park
systems at the meeting Monday evening on the
topic of Kellog Lake Park.
Kellog Lake Development Board
member Ed Grundy was present at the meeting and
provided an array of photographs taken over the
last three years citing different types of
vandalism that have taken place and showing the
frequency of littering in the park and in Spring
River. Grundy also showed the committee
photographs of the new trash receptacles in the
park which he said were constructed in a way that
would restrict the likelihood of being tipped
over.
Larger items listed for
possible improvement included the addition of
more dedicated parking areas, removal of damaged
trees and planting of new trees and a new walking
trail. Grundy also stressed the importance of
maintaining current assets.
The committee mentioned
upcoming events in the park including the
Fairview Christian Church wild game feed
scheduled for May 19 which is expected to draw
approximately 1,800 people and the Kids
Fishing Day which is scheduled for June 11.

Just Jake
Talkin'
Mornin'
I dont know why I
keep it around.
My calculator is solar powered
and Ive had it for several years. Never had
to replace the battery and it still functions,
most of the time.
Ever now and then it
takes spells and I have to turn it on and off a
few times to get it to work. Im
guessin it cost four or five bucks and
could be replaced fairly easily, but it fits
nicely in my drawer. I guess its just
comfortable. Not enough of an aggravation to
cause major discomfort at least.
Ive always been reluctant
to throw away somethin that still had life
in it. Power tools, tape recorders, transistor
radios that are never used but could be if the
notion arose. As the accumulation began to build,
it became easier to put things in the dumpster.
My calculator just winced.
This is some fact, but mostly,

Here's A Tip
By
JoAnn Derson "To get your refrigerator
clean and fresh-smelling, just use a damp rag
dipped in baking soda to scrub walls and
surfaces. You can even use it to clean glass,
since it is nonabrasive. Wipe clean with water
and then leave the unused baking soda in the box,
open, on a shelf." I.C. in Kentucky
"I found a great
way to deal with leftover bits of small hardware.
I got an accordion folder and removed every other
divider. Then I filed instruction manuals for
things that have been put together, and just
dropped the extra hardware bits in the slots with
the instructions. Now when I need a piece of
hardware that I didnt use on the first
go-around, I can just pull the piece, and the
instructions along with it." R.F. in
Idaho
"We made a great
addition to our kids playroom. I took a
piece of thin rope about 3 feet long and threaded
a few binder clips on it. We tied the ends
tightly to two pegs we had mounted on the wall,
and we use the clips to rotate artwork for
display." A Reader, via e-mail
For a quick, relaxing,
relatively cost-free pedicure, soak feet for
about 15 minutes in warm water to which you have
added 2 tablespoons of epsom salt. Scrub feet
with a loofah or pumice stone to remove dead
skin, then rinse, dry and moisturize thoroughly.
