Albert: Would you like to have lunch?
Edna: Certainly. Where should we eat?
Albert: Let’s eat up the street.
Edna: No, thank you. I don’t like the taste of asphalt.

Chunk of Wood In Throat.

Horse Belonging to Cliff Hubbard of Pepsin Nearly choked to Death.

Dr. Houser, the veterinary, was called to the farm of Cliff Hubbard near Pepsin last night to see what he could do for a valuable draft horse which was said to be choking to death because of a corn cob stuck in his throat. When Dr. Houser reached the hubbard farm the big horse was almost gone and strenuous methods were necessary.

Probing down the throat the doctor found the obstruction and made an incision into the throat from the side of the neck. The supposed cob was found to be an oaken knot as large as three walnuts. How the horse came to swallow such a thing as that is a mystery. Relief to the animal came almost instantly and he will recover.

I never mastered the art of spinnin’ a four way lug wrench. Maybe just not enough practice.

Onea the problems with changin’ a flat on the newer cars is they don’t have a decent hubcap ta throw the lug nuts in. You’ve prob’ly seen the guy bent down by the car, with onea those little flimsy L shaped tire tools in one hand and a lug nut in the other, lookin’ completely bewildered. He’s lookin’ for a spot to put the nut so he won’t lose it.

Bein’ on a paved shoulder doesn’t help much either Those little lug nuts will start rollin’ until they find the exact center of the car.

The real embarrassment comes when ya gotta limp your car into town with that little weenie tire they call a spare.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Here's A Tip
by JoAnn Derson

• To avoid unsightly flour marks on the outside of a cake, just dust the pan with a bit of your cake mix.

• "Keep on top of correspondence and bills by creating an ‘action’ file. I used a three-ring binder and 32 plastic page protectors. I labeled the page protectors 1 to 31, with the final one labeled ‘Next Month.’ Whenever I get a bill or a school note that has to be acted on, I slip it into the appropriate day’s folder. Every few days, I preview the folders that are about 10 days ahead. That way, I can pay bills on time, make sure I have what I need for school meetings and send permission slips back in with time to spare. It’s kept me very organized." — A.M. in Oregon

• "I keep containers of wet wipes in both our cars and in the kitchen. It’s amazing how often I need to use them. With three kids and two dogs, somebody is always needing a quick cleanup, and they are always handy." — M.C. in North Carolina

• "To keep hands soft, mix a tablespoon of sugar into 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Give hands a two-minute massage with the mixture once a week. Rinse well with plain warm water (not hot) to remove the sugar, and wipe off excess oil." — V.O. in California

• "To discourage barking in a dog, try this inexpensive trick. Use a tin can with a lid, and put a few pennies inside. When the dog barks, shake the can. It will get his attention, since he probably won’t like the noise. You have to keep it up for about a month, but it worked on my dog, and he was a real barker!" — E.C. in New Mexico
