My birth came as quite a surprise. I didn’t even have a chance to dress for it.

Twenty-two of my friends and I went to a costume party dressed as circus clowns. That way we could all go in one car.

Money can’t buy happiness. It just helps you look for it in more places. - Milton Berle

Mornin',

Over the years our household has accumulated a collection of ladders. I suppose most homeowners are blessed with the same joy of ownership. I’d guess as investments ladders don’t make a lot of sense, ya only use ‘em a few times a year and the rest of the time they just sit around takin’ up space. The real benefit is not monetary, but just plain handy.

As hard as they are to lose, the question of "where’s the ladder" seems to pop up on a regular basis, followed by the "which one" response. The little step, the big little step, the little big step, the big step, Grandpa’s old one, the new one, or the extension?

I’ve tried those, there’s just that one spot that I can’t quite get too. I still need one just a little longer.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Just Jake Talkin’.

Here's A Tip
By JoAnn Derson

• "To clean blinds -- and keep them clean longer -- use sheets of fabric softener made for use in the dryer. The material is lint free, and the softener in it reduces static cling, as in dust clinging to those blinds. I do this a couple of times a year." -- S.L. in Indiana

• Keep track of the capacity and dimensions of your cookware by using a permanent marker to notate the specifications on the bottom of each baking container. This way, when a recipe calls for a 13-by-9-inch baking dish or a 2-quart casserole dish, you can easily tell which one you need. This is especially important if you don’t spend a lot of time cooking.

• "I use baking soda to scour my kitchen sink. Then I rinse it down with a little vinegar. It cleans up really nicely and leaves the drains fresh." -- J.C. in California

• "To loosen grime in the shower, run the shower on hot for a few minutes and then use a cleaner. The heat makes it easier to clean. Or you can clean up the shower just before you clean yourself up." -- T.G. in Texas

• "To make sure you don’t get any slipped stitches when you are interrupted while knitting or crocheting, just clip the work at the needle with a clothespin. It stays put, and you can pick it right back up after you’re done taking a break." -- C.C. in Arkansas

• "My brother is always late for lunch when we get together. I started telling him that I would meet him at a certain time, and then I really went to the meeting place 20 minutes after that time. I don’t wait as long now." -- P.L. in Michigan
