An Italian man claims he has
set a world record by creating a 330-gallon cup
of cappuccino. Sadly, moments after making the
drink the man suffered a massive heart attack.
Not from drinking the cappuccino but trying to

Dr. A. B. McKeehan and Dr.

and arranged to open a dental office in partnership in
Carthage. They secured the front rooms in the second

square now in the course of erection. When this building
is done these dentists announce that they will open up
about the swellest dental parlors to be found in the

Approved the
Lighting Additions.
The City Council
Public Services Committee met Monday evening in a
regular session. Items discussed included
proposed lighting additions for Kellogg Lake.
Citizen Ed Grundy was present at the meeting on
behalf of the Kellogg Lake board and showed the
committee blueprints for the proposed locations
of the 8 new lights. The additions would better
illuminate the parking lots, according to Grundy.
The committee approved the plans for the new
lights.
Mayor Jim Woestman
was in attendance of the meeting and spoke to the
committee concerning the acquisition of a donated
statue. The statue is carved from wood and is a
representation of an eagle holding an American
flag. It was donated to the City, but
transportation from its original location in
Tulsa, Oklahoma to Carthage cost $750. Woestman
asked the committee to accept the donation of the
statue to the City and approve payment of the
moving fee. The committee approved. City
Administrator Tom Short recommended looking into
seeking non-City funding to help pay for the
installation of the sculpture on City property.
The sculpture stands approximately 13 feet high.
Citizen Gary
Wofford spoke to the Committee about Carter Park,
and the effort of beautifying the park. Wofford
showed the committee an artists rendition,
created by local artist Andy Thomas, which
features the park with an entryway of stone and
metal-work, flower beds and a water playground.
Committee chair Claude Newport told Wofford that
the illustration looked nice, and encouraged him
to seek funding for the project.
Other items of
discussion during the meeting included the long
range planning for Kellogg Lake. City officials
and representatives from the Department of
Conservation recently met to discuss the lake.
Newport said that the Department recommended
dredging the lake to get it back to its original
depth. The process of dredging would take several
years to complete, according to Parks Director
Alan Bull. The depth of the lake has decreased
due in part to bird related deposits in the
water, according to Bull.

Talkin'
Mornin',
I read once that rabbits always return to their
trail to confuse anything tryin to follow
em. They will run in a circle and come back
to close to where they were jumped up.The article I was readin made
rabbit huntin appear to be a pretty simple
task. Take your dog along to chase the rabbit and
just wait until the critter makes the full
circle.
Now Im not sure the short
legged dog I grew up with was a decent rabbit
chaser. We did manage to scare up a rabbit or
two, but I never saw em again. After a bit,
the dog would come sniffin tryin to
pick up the trail. Im guessin the dog
is a critical factor in the art of rabbit
huntin as described in the article.
Bein smarter than the rabbit doesnt
make much difference if ya dont have a dog
that will hunt.
This is some fact, but mostly,

Here's A Tip
By JoAnn Derson
"If youre
afraid your couch-cushion covers wont fit
over the foam after washing, dont be. Hang
them on a line to dry, place the foam in a
garbage bag, slide the cover on and zip, zip,
zip, youre done." -- T.G. in North
Carolina
"Whoever said that
kids today arent thoughtful has just been
proven wrong by my two darling neighbors. I was
out front trying to move a pretty heavy planter
away from my front door to a different spot in
the yard. The kids saw me struggling and told me
to wait right here. They went into
their house and brought out the older boys
skateboard, then helped me lift the planter onto
the skateboard. We just pushed it to the spot
with no problem. I baked them cookies to say
thank you." -- C.L. in Florida
If youve been
cooking with onion or fish and have smelly hands,
just use a quarter of a lemon and rub it all over
your hands. Then wash with hot water and soap.
The smell will disappear.
"For the summer
season, when the kids will be out of school, we
have started collecting a list of activities to
do. When we hear of something, we write it in a
space on the family calendar. We are all looking
forward to learning some things this
summer." -- V.K. in Oregon
"My lint roller
wasnt really big enough to get the cat hair
off my couch without it taking forever. My
husband bought three smaller rollers and put them
together on an old paint roller. Now, it takes
just a few moments, and the hair is gone. Now if
I could just keep the cats from shedding
altogether." -- G.R. in Texas
