An artist just drew my picture. Do you like it?

It's beautiful, but it doesn't look like you.

I know - I was busy, so my brother posed for it.

I was driving with Bob the other day and I looked at the speedometer - he was going eighty miles an hour. Suddenly he turned to me and said: Hey, who's driving.

"Grapefruit Good for the Teeth," says one newspaper. But it's also an eye tonic.

Find the greatest common denominator.

Great heavens, is that thing lost again?

Carthage Tourists Scatter.

News from the Carthage people in Colorado is to the effect that Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Rose have left Manitou to visit other portions of the state. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Deutsch and daughter, Miss Rosine, took the train Wednesday night from Denver for Chicago, where they would arrive just in time for Miss Rosine to join a house party at some point north on the lakes. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Sewall are spending the week at the famous Glenwood Springs and other parts of western Colorado, including the trout streams of the Gunnison country.

A Crowded Hotel.

A carload of new furniture arrived this morning for the Carthage hotel. This additional supply is much needed, for only yesterday ten persons who wanted board had to be turned away for lack of accommodation.

Light Agenda for Council.

The City Council will face a light agenda for its regular meeting tomorrow evening at 7:30 in City Hall.

Old business will consist of the expected authorization of two agreements, one for a transportation grant from the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission, and another with the Carthage R-9 School District.

The transportation grant helps fund the City taxi service and the double decker bus. The R-9 agreement is for their use of various sports facilities owned by the City.

New business includes a public hearing on the proposed annexation of property located at 2825 S. Maple as requested by Ray and Mary L. Knight.

The first reading of the annual renewal of the ordinance that establishes a procedure to disclose potential conflicts of interest for certain municipal officials will also appear under new business.

A closed session is also listed to discuss leasing, purchase or sale of real estate.

There has been no official word on the status of the appraisal for the new airport.

Mornin',

Summer is almost over for those of school age and their parents. Books, clothes and supplies will no doubt consume the bulk of time and money for families for the next couple a weeks.

‘Course the most life alterin’ circumstances will surround those who have kids enterin’ the "system" for the first time. It’s been long enough that I don’t even know at what age youngsters begin school. Seems ta be earlier all the time. What with the pre and pre-pre schools, I’m never sure when the book learnin’ process actually starts.

One thing for sure, the additional activity around the school yards means those of us movin’ through in vehicles have to take note. Those little legs can pop out in front of a car in a heart beat.

This is some fact, but mostly,

The Super Handyman

Dear Al & Kelly: I have had to do some repair work on my gutters and downspouts this season and came up with a super idea for a little tote. I just got two large coffee cans and clamped them together at the top with a C-clamp. The clamp made a great handle, and the tote was easy to carry up and down the ladder. I put all of the tools and hardware I needed in it.

When I finally finished, the clamp came off and is back up on the wall of my shop. I decided to keep the coffee cans to store nails in, so they are still in my shop as well.

Q: In my bathroom I have a wallpaper border made from a vinyl material that keeps curling up at the seams. I have pulled it off and cleaned it, and now I am ready to stick it back down. What is the best adhesive to use? - A. S.

A: Your wallpaper dealer will have special pastes made just for vinyl-to-vinyl pasting. Regular wheat paste often can't dry and also allows mildew to grow under the vinyl.

A SUPER HINT - A quick way to remove small rust spots is with an eraser made for removing ink, like the old typewriter erasers or the ones that come on some ball point pens. These are more abrasive than regular pencil erasers and work quite well.
