today's
laugh
Nothing that is false ever does anybody
any good.
Youre wrong, stranger. I have
false teeth and they do me a lot of good.
There I was all alone -standing on the
hill top - when in the distance I saw ten thousand
Indians coming. . .
How many Indians?
One thousand, and. . .
How many Indians?
Well, one Indian was coming in the
distance.
Hes so dumb he thinks the
Kentucky Derby is a hat.

Today's Feature City Side To Discuss Airport.
The City representatives of the
Airport Settlement Committee are scheduled to
meet at 7 p.m. in City Hall this Thursday. The
Committee is made up of five members representing
the City and five members representing the
interest of the Myers Memorial Airport Committee.
The Committee was formed by the Mayor to attempt
to resolve the lawsuit filed by the MMAC against
the City in an attempt to assure that a new
airport is built.
According to City Administrator
Tom Short, the meeting Thursday will give the
City members a chance to discuss the draft
proposal. City Attorney David Mouton is also
scheduled to attend.
The agenda states that the
Settlement Committee will consider going into
closed session.
Mayor Kenneth Johnson told the
Council during last weeks regular meeting
that a proposed draft settlement agreement had
been received by the City. He indicated at that
time a meeting would be called to consider the
proposed settlement and a report would be made
back to the Council.

Just Jake
Talkin'
Mornin',
Im havin a hard
time keepin all the various committees
involved with the airport deal straight on
paper. Ive decided to cut waste and
shorten the names a bit. The Myers Memorial
Airport Committee, which filed the suit
against the City, will be referred to as MMAC
(kinda like big MAC with a studder) in this
publication from now on. Ill still
remind ya from time to time which is which.
The Airport Settlement
Committee will be ASC (pronounced like
"ask and you shall receive"). I
figure that when referrin to one side
or the other of the Settlement Committee it
would be Half ASC.
Referrin to both committees
thrown together could be MMACASC. Ya gotta be
careful when speakin not ta be punched.
This is some fact, but
mostly,
Just Jake Talkin.

Intro to the Net.
If you think about the time
when the Internet first started to become popular
there were only a few thousand host computers
connected to the Internet. To this small group of
people the Internet was their own little world.
These original internet users developed some
standards (not laws, just guidelines) regarding
the Internet. These standard or sets of rules
were called Netiquette. The guidelines they set
were the norm for themselves but many new
Internet users are not aware of them Sometimes,
violating these Netiguette guidelines can get you
into trouble (you may receive a nasty letter or
complaint). Here are some examples of some of the
guidelines they set:
TYPING IN ALL CAPITAL
LETTERS - This applies any time you are sending
messages on the Internet. Typing in all capital
letters is considered an expression of anger and
the reader may think you are yelling! This is
probably the most widely known and followed
example of Netiquette.
Unsolicited email - Have
you ever received an email from a company or
store advertising a sale? Probably not, but have
you ever wondered why? A company could easily
send out millions of email messages to customers
nationwide to advertise their product. The reason
you never get such messages is because it is an
extreme violation of Netiquette.
