Little Mary was left to fix lunch, and when the mother returned with a friend she noticed Mary had the tea strained.

"Did you find the lost strainer?" Mother asked.

"No, Mother, I couldn't, so I used the fly swatter," Mary replied.

Mother nearly swooned, so Mary hastily added: "Don't get excited, Mother, I used the old one."

A little girl in southern California has having her first glimpse of snow. "Oh, mother, what is it-what is it?" she shouted excitedly.

INTERESTING MELANGE.
A Chronological Record of Events as they have Transpired in the City and County since our last Issue.

A NERVY THIEF.

Steals an Overcoat from the Cloak Room of the High School.

Walter Gallentine, a son of Jon. Gallentine, who lives two miles northwest of Carthage, lost an overcoat in a very mysterious manner, yesterday, from the cloak room of the high school.

Walter is a member of the high school and yesterday, hung a brand new overcoat that he had purchased only the day before, in the cloak room provided for that purpose. Upon coming out, after school, the coat was nowhere in sight and the supposition is that is was stolen.

The thief was a very nervy one, as the party who carried it away ran a great many chances of being suddenly walked in upon as he was in the act of taking it, or meeting someone in the hall. There is as yet no sure clew to the thief.

Memorial Hall Plans Well-Received.

City Council members, the mayor and other interested citizens heard a presentation Monday evening from architect Jerry Hagerman concerning the proposed $1.656 million renovation of Memorial Hall. No money has been budgeted for the project, and the City hopes to obtain some private funding.

Changes to the plans since last viewed by the Public Services Committee include a gazebo at the new southeast entrance to highlight that entrance, the inclusion of the Civil War museum on the new second floor of the building and a distance learning meeting room also on the second floor which could be used for interactive learning programs and participation in national conferences.

Hagerman said moving the Civil War museum would "give it more exposure and enhance this facility."

The plans were well-received with the addition of a ramp in the proposed loading dock area being the only physical change suggested by those in attendance. The mayor also expressed concern that the American Legion be satisfied with their designated space in the renovated building.

Mornin',

Only a couple weeks left to file for the City Council election (Jan. 19 deadline). At this time there are no candidates filed for the Second and Third Wards. The only race so far is in the fifth Ward 'tween incumbent Donna Harlan and former Council member Lujene Clark. There are rumors of possibility another candidate gettin' in that race also.

First Ward has Just Jake Johnson filed, Fourth Ward has Colonel Art Dunaway. No one contestin' these up to this point.

J.D. Whitledge of the Third Ward is still decidin' but puts the odds against filin' for another term at this point in time.

Charlie Bastin of the Second Ward is keepin' his thoughts about seekin' another term to himself.

If your needin' to get out more and become more directly involved in the Community, get down ta City Hall and file.

This is some fact, but mostly,

Intro to the Internet.

The World Wide Web

The World Wide Web is the most talked about component of the Internet today. It is also the one component of the Internet that is advancing ( in terms of technology) the fastest. As you travel from place to place, information is constantly being transferred back and forth between client and server computers.

While you’re "surfing" the World Wide Web, you use Hypertext Links (Some time called Hot Links) to quickly travel from one location to another.

These links change colors after you click on them. This makes it easier for you to keep track of where you’ve been. In addition, these links could take you anywhere. Clicking on a hypertext link could connect you to another town, state, or even country.

Of course, links aren’t the only way to connect to another location. Each World Wide Web site has its own individual address. You’ve probably seen commercials on television where they show an address that; looks something like ‘htt://www.company.com/’. This is the World Wide Web Address of that company. The real name for this address in Uniform Resource Locator (or URL) and you can easily access that particular company by typing the address directly in the location field on your browser.
