It's true that an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but you have to use tomatoes on bill collectors.

Do you raise chickens on your ranch?

I'm getting lots of chickens and more eggs all the time.

Is it true that hens will lay more eggs if you put cod liver oil in their food?

Yes, but they won't like you anymore.

Did you ever read that book Everything I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. I learned only two things: First, if someone has something you want, you can remove it from them physically. And second, Elmer's glue makes a great between-meals snack.

Hall Manager Job Description.

The Public Services Committee is scheduled to meet this evening in City Hall. The Committee oversees the operation of Memorial Hall, the Civil War Museum and the Park System.

The agenda includes a discussion of the job description for the newly authorized Memorial Hall Manager. General duties would include the supervision of personnel, day to day operation and promotion of the facility for special events. Funding for the position was approved in this year’s City budget. City Administrator Tom Short will present his recommendations to the Committee. When the Committee agrees on a final description, it will go to the full Council.

The Committee is also scheduled to hear a report on the progress of the Fair Acres Sports Complex and the efforts to treat the water in Kellogg lake. It will also look at recommendations for play ground equipment for Carter Park.

The Special Services Committee typically meets on the first Monday of each month. This month’s meeting was postponed due to the July 4th holiday.

Mornin',

Jinks (or Jinx ?), ya owe me a coke.

I don’t know how many times that phrase was repeated durin’ my childhood, but I can’t remember ever bein’ treated to a cool soft drink as a result. For some reason this phrase was primarily used as an excuse to punch your buddy’s arm five or six times. Each punch was supposed to add to the number of cola’s you would get.

I don’t know where this stuff comes from. I prob’ly learned the trick from my older brother, but he didn’t have any siblings to teach him. The power of peer education I suppose. It’s amazin’ what kids learn from other kids. Not so amazin’ that they learn it I suppose, but more that they seem to retain it more than they do traditional type learnin’. Who da thunk it?

This is some fact, but mostly,

The Super Handyman

If you are like many people, you use a cordless phone these days. The old phone might be obsolete, but parts of it can still be used. For example, that old curly cord is super for keeping several electrical cords under control.

Just hold the cords together and then coil the phone cord around them. It's loose enough so overheating won't be a problem, and it is easily removed if need be.

The average phone cord is long enough to be cut up and be used for two or three roundups around your home.

Dear Kelly: It's so much easier to wallpaper now. Most papers are prepasted and go up so much faster. The one thing I always do even when the instructions say it's not necessary is to use wall sizing first. It is worth its weight in gold. It isn't that hard to do and makes it so much easier to get the paper up straight, because it gives you a slicker surface to work on.

It also makes it so much easier to remove the paper when it's time to up new paper. If you've ever had to steam off old paper, you know what I'm talking about.

A SUPER HINT-When cutting glass, it's often a good idea to lubricate the cutting tool as you work. Any type of oil would help. Lots of professionals use transmission fluid or pentine.
