To Build an Addition.

In order to give the Crane Hardware Co. needed room, T. Regan will build an extension on the rear of the building which they occupy, thus making their building one hundred feet in length. Work will begin immediately. This will add greatly to the appearance of their store room.

Justice Hunter to Resign.

Justice M. M. Hunter expects to resign his office as justice of the peace as soon as his affairs are settled up and will leave with his family for Pennsylvania, where he will remain for some time in the Allegheny mountains for his wife's health.

The official vacancy has been anticipated by the aspiring ones, and several are after the appointment to the place. The county court, which is Popocratic in politics, will fill the position. Judge Kilgore and Claude Berry are two of the most prominently mentioned for the place.

Mornin',

It sometimes seems it’s gettin’ harder and harder to be nice to folks. This is particularly apparent when it comes to navigatin’ through a busy four-way stop.

Sometimes, just ‘cause I arrived at an intersection first, it doesn’t mean that I’m ready to pull out ‘xactly in order. I may want to glance at the map or reach for the sun glasses in the back seat.

I wave to the next car in order.

They adamantly wave back as if to say, no, you were here first.

I wave for them to go ahead.

No, no. You first, the reply is waved.

In the mean time, the other two cars are gettin’ a little annoyed. Then they both start to pull out at the same time. Both abruptly stop.

By this time the wave happy driver decides if anyone is gonna move it’s him. He starts ta move.

Usually by this time I’m ready and while they all sit glaring, I gracefully pull through and leave the impending traffic jam.

Just tryin’ to be nice. It just goes ta show ya.

This is some fact, but mostly, Just Jake Talkin’.

Airport Red Tape.

The Budget Ways and Means Committee voted 5-1 to have Tri-State Engineering gather information necessary to be submitted to the Missouri Department of Transportation on FAA Form 7480-1. The motion was put forth by Committee member Lujene Clark. Nolan Henry opposed.

“The purpose of the form,” says Administrator of Aviation Lloyd Parr, “is to allow the FAA to examine the site intended to be used as a public use landing area and to determine if specific airspace should be allocated to the site and be protected as long as it remains in use as an airport. Our understanding is new construction has occurred on or near the site which may affect the evaluation by the FAA as to the viability of the site.”

Committee Chair Bill Johnson explained that this action would not reopen the airport. “It does not open the airport,” said Johnson.

“This just gives us the information from which to work,” said Clark.

“We need to know yes or no,” said Committee member Art Dunaway.
